Livestock Brand Commission
Investigates all agricultural crime and maintains brand book
Livestock Brand Commission personnel investigate all agricultural crime in Louisiana including livestock thefts (cattle, equine, hogs, emus, ostriches, turtles, sheep, and exotics), farm machinery and equipment; maintain brand records and publishes a book of brands every 5 years.
All enforcement personnel are commissioned by Louisiana State Police and have full police powers in the performance of their duties.

1 member appointed from a list of three persons nominated by the Louisiana Cattlemen's Association.
1 member appointed from a list of three persons nominated by the Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation.
1 member appointed from a list of three persons nominated by the Louisiana Sheriffs' Association.
1 member appointed from a list of three persons nominated by the Louisiana District Attorneys' Association.
2 members appointed from the state at large, one of whom shall be appointed from the northern portion of the state and one of whom shall be appointed from the southern portion of the state.
1 member appointed from the state at large, who shall be an operator of a Louisiana livestock market.
1 member appointed from a list of three persons nominated by the Louisiana Landowners Association.
1 member appointed from a list of three persons nominated by the Louisiana Forestry Association.
The commissioner of agriculture and forestry, or his designee, shall serve as an ex officio member with the same rights, powers, and privileges as the other members.
