Two men arrested for arson

Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., said LDAF forestry enforcement officers recently arrested an Allen Parish man and a Beauregard Parish man on simple arson charges in unrelated cases.
“LDAF Forestry Enforcement Officers Jim Hilton and Charles Earl conducted both arson investigations which resulted in the arrests,” Strain said.
Steven Paul Hess, 21, Lot 3, North 17th Street, Oakdale, was charged with eight counts of simple arson over $500 for fires he allegedly set on Forest Capital Timber property located near Oakdale. The fires burned 52 acres of timberland. Hess, arrested on March 20, posted bail and was released.
John L. Parks, 32, 368 Burgin Road, Starks, was charged with five counts of simple arson for allegedly setting fires on Crest Natural Resources timber property located south of Fields. The fires burned 60 acres of timberland causing an estimated $42,000 in losses.
