Flood Water and Fuel Quality
August 17, 2016
Baton Rouge, La. (August 17, 2016) – Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., once the water recedes, fuel inspectors with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Weights and Measures division will spot check fuel tanks for water. Flood water can sometimes compromise fuel tanks.
“We will take this precautionary measure to hopefully prevent any vehicles from being damaged in the event flood water seeps into the tanks,” said Strain.
Motorists who believe they have fuel quality issues after the flood are asked to call 800-247-1086 to report the issue. That phone number is also on the LDAF inspection sticker located on all gas pumps.
For suspected price gouging, call 800-351-4889.
