FAQ – Price Verification Inspections
Why do I have to register my scanner?
Louisiana Law RS 3:4607 requires Weights and Measures inspectors to inspect and test all electronic barcode scanning devices to ensure that prices are posted for items offered for sale and the prices are accurate.
What is the fee schedule?
Category | # of Scanners (each location) | Total Fee (not per scanner) |
---|---|---|
A | 1-10 | $50 |
B | 11-25 | $100 |
C | More than 25 | $150 |
Why does the price have to be posted?
According to LAC 7:XXXV:117, it is required that prices be correctly and accurately posted to ensure the consumer knows how much the seller is asking for the product.
