Animal Health
The Office of Animal Health and Food Safety protects the livestock industry from theft and animal diseases through prevention, diagnosis, eradication and other measures. Additionally, the office is responsible for protecting the food chain, public health and general welfare of Louisiana citizens by ensuring meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, fruits, vegetables and their products are properly identified, labeled, inspected and accurately graded. The USDA Food program is also administered through this office in support of farmers as well as providing wholesome food to school districts and food banks.
