Strain Elected to Southern Trade Association Board
September 11, 2018
Baton Rouge, La. (September 11, 2018) – Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., was elected to the executive board of directors for the Southern U.S. Trade Association (SUSTA) September 9, 2018. Strain will serve on the executive board as past president.
“As a past president of SUSTA, it is an honor to now become a member of the executive board of directors,” said Strain. “The Port of South Louisiana is the biggest grain exporter in the United States. Our Mississippi River is the gateway to the world. Exports and trade contribute to the globalization of our market.”
SUSTA is made up of the Departments of Agriculture in 15 southern states and is chartered to facilitate exports of U.S. food and high value agricultural products by small to medium-sized companies in the region. SUSTA’s Board of Directors is comprised of the secretaries and commissioners of agriculture in their member states.
SUSTA works closely with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in administering federal export promotion programs. Its administrative offices are located in New Orleans.
Strain’s term on the board is three years.
